Meet Dr. Christopher Pena (Lee's Summit, MO)

Christopher Peña, O.D., received his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2012. He earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in General Biology and Biochemistry/Molecular Genetics from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, in 2007.

Dr. Peña is an experienced optometrist focused on comprehensive eye care, including ocular disease management, binocular vision, and contact lenses. With 14 years of experience, he is dedicated to helping patients improve their vision and overall quality of life.

Born and raised in central Kansas, Dr. Peña developed an early passion for optometry through his mother, who worked as an optician, technician, and office manager throughout much of her career. As someone with severe myopia, he was often the first to try new contact lens technology, which helped inspire his interest in eye care and the meaningful impact it can have on patients’ lives.

Dr. Peña enjoys meeting new people and values the privilege and challenge of helping patients achieve better vision. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball and golf, reading, and playing guitar.

We recently switched to this practice due to insurance changes, and while I was sad to leave our old... eye doctor, this office made the transition easy. My daughter is profoundly deaf and communicates using ASL. Their standard practice is to use a digital/iPad interpreter, but I explained that an in-person interpreter works much better for her, especially as a young child — sign language is a visual language, and a screen interpreter is a lot harder for a kid to fully engage with. They listened, and without any pushback, arranged an in-person interpreter for her appointment. It meant a lot that they were willing to adjust their normal process based on what actually works for my daughter, rather than just defaulting to what’s easiest for them. Great experience, and we’re glad to be patients here.

Staff at Custom Eyes were friendly, caring and professional. I go back there every time for reliable... optical information.
